Competition Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”)
The Ownrs Who Hustle Competition (the “Competition”) is sponsored by RBC Ventures Inc. (“RBC Ventures”). The Competition will allow entrepreneurs to showcase their side hustle via Instagram and share how they are impacting the community. RBC Ventures will provide $500 CAD, a spotlight feature on Ownr Blog, and a guest spot on Ownr’s upcoming Ownrs Who Hustle Webinar Panel, to one successful Competition applicant.
The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram (the “Social Platform”). The Social Platform is hereby completely released of all liability by each applicant in the Competition. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Competition must be directed to RBC Ventures and not to the Social Platform. Applicants may only use one (1) Instagram account (an “Account”) to participate. To be eligible to enter, each applicant’s Account must be set to public and not private.
1. APPLICATION PERIOD.
The Competition application period begins July 6, 2020 at 12:01 am ET and ends July 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET (the “Application Period”).
2. ELIGIBILITY.
To be eligible to enter and win, applicants must satisfy the following criteria at the time of entry and comply with all other Competition Terms:
- Age of majority resident of Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia; and,
- Currently running a side business or ‘side hustle’ (i.e. you must be the creator and owner of a business that is outside of your ‘day job’).
Employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are domiciled, whether related or not) of RBC Ventures, its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising/promotion agencies and any other entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration, judging or fulfillment of the Competition (collectively with RBC Ventures, the “Competition Parties”) are not eligible to enter.
3. HOW TO ENTER:

Post a picture on your Instagram Account showcasing your side hustle and tag @ownr.co. In the caption, share the story behind your side hustle and why you want to win, and tag #OwnrsWhoHustle and #CompetitionEntry. The entry must be posted with all other requirements by July 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET. Multiple applications are permitted but must have a separate and unique post per entry.
Winner will be contacted via Instagram direct message and, once confirmed, announced through a post on Ownr’s Instagram channel.
To be eligible, all content and materials associated with an application (collectively, “Entry Materials”) must: (i) be in accordance with these Terms (including, but not limited to, the specific participation requirements listed below) and submitted and received during the Application Period; (ii) include all required components and materials noted above; and (iii) be in accordance with the terms, rules, policies and guidelines of the Social Platform (all as determined by RBC Ventures in its sole and absolute discretion). All applications, Entry Materials and entrants are subject to verification at any time and for any reason RBC Ventures deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering the Competition in accordance with the letter and spirit of these Terms. An application may be rejected if, in the sole and absolute discretion of the RBC Ventures, the application or any associated Entry Materials are not submitted and received in accordance with these Terms.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: By participating in the Competition, each applicant hereby warrants and represents that any Entry Materials he/she submits:
is/are original to him/her and that the entrant has obtained all necessary rights in and to the Entry Materials;
does not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation and will not give rise to any claims whatsoever, including, without limitation, claims of infringement, invasion of privacy or publicity, or infringe on any rights and/or interests of any third party;
does not contain any reference to or likeness of any identifiable third parties, unless consent has been obtained from all such individuals (and their parent/legal guardian, as required); and,
is/are not defamatory, trade libelous, pornographic or obscene, and further that it will not contain, depict, include, discuss or involve, without limitation, any of the following: nudity; alcohol/drug consumption or smoking; explicit or graphic sexual activity, or sexual innuendo; crude, vulgar or offensive language and/or symbols; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual, religious or other groups; that endorses, condones and/or discusses any illegal, inappropriate or risky behaviour or conduct; personal information of individuals, including, without limitation, names, telephone numbers and addresses (physical or electronic); and/or any other materials that are or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, all as determined by the RBC Ventures in its sole and absolute discretion.
RBC Ventures and/or its designated content moderator (the “Reviewer”) reserves the right to screen all Entry Materials, and, at any time and for any reason, to remove any Entry Materials (or any part thereof) and/or to request an applicant to modify, edit and/or re-submit his or her Entry Materials (or any part thereof) in order to ensure that the Entry Materials comply with these Terms. Any Entry Materials that the Reviewer deems, in its sole and absolute discretion, to violate the terms and conditions set forth in these Terms are subject to disqualification.
By entering the Competition, each applicant: (i) without limiting the Social Platform rules, as applicable, grants to RBC Ventures, in perpetuity, a worldwide, non-exclusive, license to publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit, make available, communicate to the public by telecommunication and otherwise use his/her Entry Materials (and each component thereof), in whole or in part, for advertising or promoting the Competition or for any other reason in any type of media; (ii) waives all moral rights in and to his/her Entry Materials (and each component thereof) in favour of RBC Ventures (and anyone authorized by RBC Ventures to use such Entry Materials); and (iii) agrees to release and hold harmless the Released Parties (defined below) from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from use of his/her Entry Materials (or any component thereof), including, without limitation, any claim based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, trade-mark infringement or any other intellectual property related or other cause of action whatsoever.
4. EVALUATION CRITERIA & PRIZE.
At the end of the application period, a selection committee will review and assign a score to all applications on the basis of the criteria noted below and in its sole discretion will select the top applicant to be awarded one (1) prize, consisting of $500 CAD cash, a spotlight feature on Ownr Blog, and a guest spot on Ownr’s upcoming Ownrs Who Hustle Webinar Panel (the spotlight feature and guest spot do not have a retail value).
Evaluation criteria include:
· The quality of application responses; specifically, the concept behind the side hustle and the relative impact it will have on the community in Canada.
· External criteria available relating specifically to the side hustle, including business website, social media channels, customer testimonials, and more.
IMPORTANT NOTE: RBC Ventures reserves the right to contact applicants directly to request additional details, for the sole purpose of determining the validity or eligibility of their side hustle in accordance with these Terms. Each applicant must promptly respond to such requests, and is solely responsible for monitoring his/her Instagram account for and following all instructions contained within such notification messages.
The odds of winning depend on the number and calibre (based on the evaluation criteria, above) of eligible applications received. The selection committee’s review is scheduled to be completed on or about Aug 10, 2020.
5. SELECTION OF SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT & AWARDING OF PRIZE
The successful applicant will be notified by email no later than Aug 10, 2020. The successful applicant will be contacted by RBC Ventures in order to facilitate the process of awarding the cash prize (Interac e-Transfer or Cheque), blog feature, and guest spot on webinar panel. Successful applicant may be asked to provide information that includes: first name, last name, province, and email address to confirm eligibility and arrange payment of prize. RBC Ventures may require, in its sole and absolute discretion, that the successful applicant sign and return RBC Ventures’ form of declaration and release prior to being confirmed the winner.
By accepting the prize, the applicable successful applicant: (i) confirms that he/she has read, understood and is in compliance with these Terms; (ii) grants all consents required, and authorizes the RBC Ventures to broadcast, publish, disseminate and otherwise use his/her name, ‘side hustle’ business name, city/town/village and province of residence, photograph, voice and any other likeness, materials and other information that he/she may make available to RBC Ventures for the purposes of the Competition and/or the prize, in connection with any promotion and/or publicity (including, without limitation, the spotlight feature on Ownr Blog and guest spot on the Ownrs Who Hustle Webinar Panel), and/or for general news, entertainment and/or information purposes at no additional compensation to the successful applicant, beyond the awarding of or participation in the prize, in any type of media worldwide and in perpetuity; (iii) accepts the applicable prize as awarded; and (iv) releases the Released Parties (defined below) from any and all liability in connection with this Competition, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the applicable prize or any portion thereof.
6. GENERAL TERMS.
By submitting an application, each applicant signifies his/her agreement that he/she has read and agrees to be bound by these Terms and by the decisions of the selection committee, which are final and binding in all respects. By submitting an application, each applicant hereby agrees to release the Competition Parties, Instagram Inc., and each of their respective agents, employees, directors, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability in connection with the Competition and his/her participation therein, and to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from his/her participation in the Competition.
By entering this Competition, each entrant expressly consents to RBC Ventures, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with their application only for the purpose of administering the Competition and in accordance with Royal Bank of Canada’s privacy policy (available at: http://www.rbc.com/privacysecurity/ca/our-privacy-policy.html). Any other consent that the entrant has given to RBC Ventures to receive commercial electronic messages which are currently in effect, and unrelated to this Competition, shall not be affected by the request for consent made pursuant to this Competition.
RBC Ventures may suspend, amend or cancel the Competition or any entrant’s participation in the Competition at any time.
Applicants who violate these Terms or engage in any conduct that is detrimental to RBC Ventures, its affiliates, or any of the Release Parties, the Competition or applicant (determined by RBC Ventures in its sole discretion) are subject to disqualification at any time.
RBC Ventures does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of application information, technical malfunctions, human or other technical error.
